Choosing the Right Commercial Toilet

Wall hung toilets require a concealed frame fixed into the wall structure and are best suited to new build or full refurbishment projects where the frame can be installed during first fix. The pan is suspended off the floor entirely, making cleaning underneath straightforward and giving the washroom a contemporary flush finish.

For high security, vandal resistant or outdoor environments, stainless steel is the required material. Ceramic pans will not withstand the conditions found in prisons, secure facilities, outdoor public conveniences and industrial environments. Stainless steel commercial toilet pans are available in floor standing and wall hung configurations, with combination units available for secure single occupancy rooms.

Rimless pan designs are worth specifying wherever hygiene maintenance is a priority. The absence of an inner rim eliminates the most difficult area to clean on a standard toilet and reduces the accumulation of bacteria and limescale over time. Rimless pans are increasingly standard in healthcare, education and hospitality specifications.

Commercial Toilet Packs, Frames and Cisterns

A wall hung toilet installation requires more than just the pan. The cistern, wall frame and flush plate are all separate components and need to be specified together. Getting this right at specification stage avoids compatibility issues on site.

WC wall frames are the structural component that carries the weight of a wall hung pan and positions it at the correct height. They are fixed to the floor and back wall during first fix before the duct panel or wall finish is applied. The frame also houses the concealed cistern. Frames are available in standard and low height configurations to suit different floor to ceiling heights and duct panel depths.

Concealed cisterns are designed to be installed within a duct panel or service wall and activated by a flush plate on the face of the panel. They are available in dual flush configurations to meet current water efficiency requirements and should be specified to match the frame make and model for guaranteed compatibility. Flush plates are the visible element and are available in chrome, brushed steel and vandal resistant metal finishes to suit the washroom specification.

Toilet packs that combine the pan, frame, cistern and flush plate in a single box offer the simplest route to specification and ordering, and ensure all components are compatible. Individual components are available separately for projects where the frame or cistern is already in place.
